Irises are now gone but the peonies this year - WOW! Am doubly surprised because the winter was so mild. Looks like this wonderful rain will last some time, so I am going out right now to clip the blooms that are fully opened and bring them in so they don't get bruised...more buds in waiting and the lillies are on deck....love this time of year in the garden. Even weeding. I call it "subtractive gardening".

Great Post Melissa. Spring is the time to stop, smell and admire the flowers and your flowers are splendid. Love the flowering tobacco--a favorite plant. Mine has not bloomed yet. You must have a way with it. Also the Chinese floxglove. In fact...love all your blooms. Good job.
In my garden, irises and roses are rockin'. And my Virgina Sweetprire is bloming up a storm. Tom (above) who grows it Charlotte has a lot to look forward to--it's one of the best shurbs around and fragrant at certian times of day. I love that.
Finally, my sister called last night to brag on her peony. She cut 7 blooms for the house and you couldn't even tell, she said. I'm going to post about it soon since I hear her neighbors are gawking with envy.

My Iris and daffodils are now just a memory and my summer flowers have not yet hit their stride, but a "pass-along" pink-flowering sage is going great guns. I wish I knew what it was. My Virgina Sweetspire and Oakleaf hydrangea are just about to burst into bloom here in Charlotte. When they do, they will be spectacular (I hope).
