Great to find another Prunus Mume fan--
I grow it in the dappled shade of my plot of NC hardwoods. The upright varieties grow quickly and now that they are established, need no care at all. There is a weeping variety, Bridal Veil, I think. I have seen it used most splendidly in Tony Avent's winter garden--weeping by an Asian style bridge.

I have never tried planting the apricots or tried to find seed. We are blessed to have a wonderful source for plants nearby, Camellia Forest Nursery in Chapel Hill.
I would email them with your seed question. Also, I will look in Dr. Dir's Mannual of Woody Landscape Plants and let you know if seeds are mentioned.
Thanks for the comment and thanks for checking out our blog. C

I won't get tired of you praising this plant because I'm a great fan too. Love to know that someone thinks the same about this wonder. Can you share some tips on how to grow this plant? I'm wondering where to get seeds or something that will grow into something like this color?
